Course Information

The Shastri course from Pandit Todarmal Smarak Trust, Jaipur is a traditional Jain scripture study program conducted primarily in Hindi and is open to students of all age groups. The Parmagam Honours course, offered under the Parmagam Honours programme by the Learn 2 Liberate Foundation, is structured as a formal academic course with semester-based exams, assignments, online class options, and a certificate recognised by the foundation. It covers similar scriptural content but with a modern curriculum design and multiple modes of learning to suit today's students worldwide.

The minimum age to enrol in the Parmagam Honours course is 15 years. There is no upper age limit — the course is open to enthusiastic learners of all ages who wish to study Jain scriptures in a structured manner.

The Parmagam Honours course is offered in multiple modes to accommodate learners globally:

  • Live Online Classes – Interactive sessions conducted over video conferencing platforms, allowing real-time participation from anywhere in the world.
  • Recorded / On-Demand Sessions – Students who cannot attend live sessions can access recorded lectures at their convenience.
  • In-Person / Centre-Based Learning – Select physical centres host classes for students who prefer face-to-face instruction.

All modes cover the same curriculum and are eligible for exams and certification.

Exams & Assignments

If you miss an exam in a particular semester, you will have the opportunity to appear for a supplementary or back-paper exam in the following semester or during the designated make-up exam window. Your semester progress will be put on hold until the missed exam is cleared. We strongly encourage students to notify the coordinators in advance if they anticipate missing an exam, so that suitable arrangements can be made.

The passing criteria for the Parmagam Honours course is a minimum of 50% aggregate across all components (written exam + assignments). For the written exam (70 marks), students must score at least 35 marks, and for the assignment component (30 marks), a minimum of 15 marks is required. Students scoring below 50% in either component will need to repeat that component in the supplementary cycle.

Each semester includes an internal assignment component worth 30 marks. This comprises:

  • Written Assignment (20 marks) – A set of short and long answer questions related to the semester syllabus, which students submit in written or typed format.
  • Practical / Activity Component (10 marks) – This may include activities like memorising key Jain sutras, preparing a short essay on a philosophical topic, or completing a guided self-reflection exercise assigned by the faculty.

Assignments are issued at the beginning of the semester with a submission deadline set before the semester-end exam. Detailed guidelines are shared with all enrolled students.

Assignments are a mandatory component of the course evaluation. If you fail to submit your assignments by the deadline, you may be given a short grace period with prior approval from the course coordinator. Missing assignments without valid reason will result in zero marks for that component, which may affect your overall result. In exceptional cases (health emergencies, etc.), a student may apply for a deferred submission.

Yes, appearing for the semester-end exam is compulsory for students who wish to receive certification and progress to the next semester. However, students who wish to attend classes purely for the purpose of learning (without certification) may opt out of formal exams. In this case, they would be categorised as "audit students" and would not receive an official certificate. For certificate-seeking students, all exams are mandatory.

Classes & Learning

We understand that life can be unpredictable. If you miss a live class, you can access the recorded session for that class, which is made available to all enrolled students within 24 hours. We recommend reviewing the missed session before the next class to stay on track with the curriculum. However, if you consistently miss classes, we encourage you to reach out to your batch coordinator so that support can be arranged.

Our teaching approach emphasises clarity and understanding. If you did not fully grasp a concept during a class, you have several options:

  • Rewatch the recorded session at your own pace.
  • Raise your doubts to the teacher via the batch's WhatsApp or communication group — teachers regularly address queries there.
  • Attend a scheduled doubt-clearing session hosted at the beginning or end of each month.
  • Refer to the provided course study material, which includes explanations, key points, and practice questions.

No student is expected to struggle alone — we encourage open communication with faculty at all times.

Certification

The certificate for the Parmagam Honours course is issued by the Learn 2 Liberate Foundation (the organising body of the Parmagam Honours programme) in collaboration with the Pandit Todarmal Smarak Trust, Jaipur, which academically validates the curriculum. Upon successful completion of all semesters and meeting the passing criteria, students receive a formal certificate bearing the names and seals of both organisations. This certificate is recognised within the Jain educational community as a mark of comprehensive scriptural study.

Registration & Materials

Upon successful registration and payment of fees, course material is provided in the following ways:

  • Physical Books – The prescribed textbooks (Shastri course books from Pandit Todarmal Smarak Trust) are couriered to students at their registered address. Shipping charges may apply based on location.
  • Digital Study Notes – Supplementary notes, summaries, and practice papers prepared by the faculty are shared digitally via email or the course's student portal / WhatsApp group.

Students are informed about the material distribution schedule at the time of orientation.

Batch changes are permitted on a case-by-case basis and subject to availability of seats in the desired batch. If you wish to transfer to a different batch (for example, due to a change in your schedule), you must submit a written request to the course coordinator within the first four weeks of the semester. Transfers are generally not permitted once the semester is past the halfway point. Please note that batch changes may affect the timing of your exams and material delivery.

General Queries

The Learn 2 Liberate Foundation follows a subsidised fee model to keep the course accessible to all. The fees charged are minimal and only used to cover operational costs such as platform hosting, material production, and faculty support. The Foundation also relies on voluntary donations from the community to keep the programme running. No student is turned away purely for financial reasons — please reach out to us if fee affordability is a concern.

However, teachers often supplement explanations in English and regional languages as needed, especially for international students or those more comfortable in English.
